Newcastle and the Hunter Valley served as a last minute replacement for a Pacific Dawn cruise originally set to head north before being forced to reroute to avoid Cyclone Ita in North Qld.
P & O cruise has thanked the Northen NSW port for being able to step in at short notice and provide shore excursions. The visit ended up being Pacific Dawns maiden visit to Newcastle ahead of the line announcing new Hunter Valley cruises in 2015.
