CANADIAN ROCKIES 2015

7 DAY – HEART OF THE ROCKIES TOUR

Start in Calgary, Alberta and end in Vancouver, British Columbia. Explore the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Banff and Jasper National Parks.  Enjoy a Snowcoach Tour and a walk out onto the Athabasca glacier at the Columbia Icefields and overnight at iconic hotels in the Rockies.

 

Day 1 Calgary                                    Arrive Calgary and transfer on own to the historic Palliser Hotel in the heart of downtown Calgary.  At check in receive a welcome letter attached to your key packets.  A CTE Tour Director will be available throughout the day to assist you with welcome information and questions regarding your tour.  The remainder of the evening is at leisure to rest from your travels

Day 2 Calgary-Banff                       Meet your travelling companions this morning and depart by motorcoach.  Enjoy a Calgary city tour before journeying into the Canadian Rockies and Banff National Park.  Tour the quaint alpine city of Banff with stops at Bow Falls and Surprise Corner, drive Tunnel Mountain and view the hoodoos. In Banff enjoy lunch on your own at one of the many cafes with time to browse an abundance of quaint shops, museums or experience walking trails along the Bow River.

Overnight: Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel (B, D)

Day 3 Banff- Lake Louise              Travel through the Bow Valley to Lake Louise on the old scenic highway looking for wildlife and grizzly bears.  Take in views of Castle Mountain, hanging glaciers and Mt. Temple. Stop at Moraine Lake and the Valley of Ten Peaks.  Enjoy an optional gondola ride in Banff or Lake Louise (weather dependant) for impressive views of the Rocky Mountains.  End the day at the majestic Chateau Lake Louise and stay in Lake View Rooms.

Day 4 Lake Louise – Jasper           Travel along one of the most scenic roads in North America to the Icefields. Visit Peyto Lake, cross the Saskatchewan River, view Cirrus Mt. and the Weeping Wall.  Stop at the Columbia Icefields to tour the Athabasca Glacier by Snowcoach and walk on a glacier. Enter Jasper National Park, stop at Athabasca Falls and view Mount Edith Cavell.  Optional Athabasca River raft float tour into Jasper. Tonight relax at your lodge or stroll along the shoreline of Lac Beauvert. Overnight: Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge (B, D)

 Day 5  Jasper – Kamloops             Follow the Miette River to Yellowhead Pass and cross the continental divide into British Columbia. Stop at Mt. Robson highest peak in the Rockies (time zone change).  Follow the North Thompson River looking for elk, moose or bear.  Stay at a beautiful riverside estate and your boutique country hotel in the Kamloops region.  Tonight enjoy a Farewell western barbeque overlooking the Thompson River.  Later enjoy time on your own at the estate.

Overnight: South Thompson Inn and Guest Ranch (B, D)

 Day 6 Kamloops – Vancouver     Descend the Coquihalla 4000 foot summit watching the landscape change rapidly from snowsheds to timber and logging regions.  Enter the rich agricultural Fraser River Valley.  Arrive at the cosmopolitan city of Vancouver and enjoy a city sightseeing tour that includes Stanley Park, Chinatown & Gastown. There are no group functions this evening to allow you plenty of free time after check in to enjoy the city and your waterfront resort hotel at leisure.

Overnight: Westin Bayshore (B)

Day 7 Embark Ship                          Enjoy a morning at leisure with opportunities to jog or stroll through Stanley Park.  A waterfront park is also adjacent to your hotel.  Later, your tour will end in Vancouver with a direct transfer to Canada Place Pier or at your hotel by check out time.  Say good-bye to your Tour Director and Driver today.  Tour terminates after Canada Place Pier drop in Vancouver or at your Vancouver Hotel by check out time…

Our tours end in Vancouver on a Friday which links in to Saturday and Sunday Alaskan cruises out of Vancouver or Seattle which is only an hour down the road. Of course your Guests don’t have to book a cruise to join our tour but the option is there and it fits seamlessly.
